The St. Thomas Episcopal Church was built in 1846 and is the oldest church in Glassboro. The ground was donated by the Whitney family. The original St. Thomas church was a small log structure.

In 1899, electric lighting was installed in the church in memory of Reverend E. Gaines Nock. The memorial windows are in memory of members of the Whitney family, and Thomas Campbell. The monumental bronze tribute tablet that says, “ To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Sergeant Thomas Henry Shaw…”. Sergent Shaw was a member of the United States Army during World War I. He was killed in action in the Argonne Forrest, France on October 16, 1918.

In 1887, a rectory was added to the church. Reverend H.M.G. Huff was the first to live in the rectory. Around the 1980’s they built a parish house so that they would have more space for church and community activities.

The church was added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1975.
