The Hotel Franklin, also known as Finger's Hotel, was located on South Academy Street between High Street and Grove Street, a short distance from the Reading Train Station. This business is not related to The Franklin House, which was located on the corner of Main Street and Mullica Hill Road.

During the late 1800s, due to employment opportunities and the development of the railroad, Glassboro increasingly needed temporary lodging. As a result, homeowners started to convert their homes into small boarding houses, such as the Hotel Franklin.

The top line of the sign reads "Poth's Extra Beer." The bottom line of the sign reads "Hotel Franklin Henery Finger Jr. Prop." The foreground of the photograph shows a young male behind a horse. It appears a child and a woman are standing on the right side of the porch behind a bicycle.
