This photograph shows Broad Street (now Delsea Drive) near an area once called Abbott's Corner. The camera is facing north. In the photo, you can see a running child on the left and a horse and carriage in the left-middle of the photograph.

The photo provides a glimpse of the utility poles and the dirt road, which was formally called Route 47. The current name of the road is Delsea Drive, which derives its name from the fact that it connects the Delaware River ("Del") with the Atlantic Ocean ("sea"). Since its construction, the Route has proved a popular means of getting from the suburbs to the Jersey shore. The construction of this road connected existing communities and made new development possible.
