Academy Street Closure

After 74 years open, Academy Street School closed in 1993. The ceremony celebrating the school was held on June 18, 1993 from 10:00am to 10:30am. Remarks were made by former Principals Marianna Carve, Gloria Lisa, and Ralph Hallenbeck, Board of Education President Joseph A Brigandi Sr., Superintendent Nicholas Mitcho, and retired teacher Marilyn Campbell Plasket. The event was called "Farewell to a Grand Old Lady."
