New Street looking South (In Progress)

This is a view from New Street facing southeast in the direction of the Academy Street School. This picture was taken on the New Street side of the First United Methodist Church parking lot approximately 1976. The photograph was captured after the old Methodist Church was demolished and before the new First United Church was built.

The brown two-story home in the distance sat on North Academy at the map coordinates 39.704299, -75.109820. This home was often referred to as the Pike House. It was purchased by the church from Bertha Pike who lived in the home until she passed away. We believe the Pike house was likely a Whitney Glassworks home that was rented to glass workers.
