Kotler Building (Sid's Discount Outlet)

This is a photograph of the Kotler Building (also known as Sid's Discount Outlets) which is located on the east corner of High and Main Street, across from Veteran's Park. The building's approximate coordinates are 39.702895, -75.111783.
The building is currently owned by Land Dimensions, a prominent land engineering firm.

The building was constructed in the 1920s and throughout its history was used for a variety of purposes including a drug store, a 5 & 10 department store, and other businesses. As a center of commerce for the town, the building and location played an important role in both the economic and social growth of the Glassboro community.

As described in Millie Houseberg's essay, The Metal Box, in the 1970s the building was owned by Otis and Mil Puriefoy, who ran Friendly Cab within the smaller one-story addition. Otis Puriefoy was an African American business owner (Owner and operator of Friendly Cab and Williamstown Cab) while also enlisted in the US Army at the Nike Missile base in Pitman, NJ.
