Maplewood was the home of Thomas Stanger and his family. The home is located on the southeast corner of Academy and Grove Streets. Thomas Stanger built the house himself in 1856. Thomas Stanger married Hannah Harding in 1856 and built the house for her. Thomas passed away in 1883 and Hannah's death followed in 1890.

The four Stanger children Mary, Anna, Frederick, and Eleanor were all born at Maplewood. Eleanor was the only the Stanger child to move out, the rest lived there throughout their lifetime. Anna Stanger was the last of the family to live there and when she passed in 1949. The house was then purchased by George Huber.

The family is buried at the St Thomas Episcopal Church Cemetery.
