The Soloman H. Stanger Glassworks existed for a few years at the Stanger/Heston/ Olive Works site on Academy Street from 1848-1852. Solomon H. Stanger, Jr. was the grandson of Solomon Stanger who purchased the land that eventually became Glassboro. Solomon H. Stanger, Jr was a successful businessman, community leader, and politician. He served one term as a New Jersey state senator. He owned the Solomon Stanger General Store and he was heavily involved in agriculture. Solomon's son Caleb Fleming Stanger eventually took over the family business.
